Ammar awarded titles screened in Iraq

A lineup of selected productions from the 7th Ammar Popular Film Festival has been screened in Iraq.

A lineup of selected productions from the 7th Ammar Popular Film Festival has been shown in the Iraqi city of al-Mada'in.

Showings of the films that started on April 2 continue till April 3 as part of a cultural event for people residing in the city and those visting mausoleum of Salman the Persian in al-Mada'in.

Salman the Persian or Salman al-Farisi, born Rouzbeh, was a companion of the prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and the first Persian who converted to Islam.

Iranian documentary 'Love without Borders 3' directed by Vahid Farahani was among the films shown at the event. The doc focuses on 'Defenders of the Holy Shrine', capturing moments of the fight against terrorists in Iraq and Syria.

Ammar Popular Film Festival goes against promotion of “individualism and extreme enjoyment without caring about the society's troubles and other human suppression,” the event’s official website noted.

The seventh Ammar Popular Film Festival was held in last December.
